Avarya Oyunları is a novel series built on political thriller and human stories, where real history intertwines with an imaginary geography. Set in a fictional country named Avarya, the series explores power struggles, the individual’s conflict with the state and society, as well as the concepts of loyalty, fear, and freedom through the eyes of different characters. Among games, rules, and unseen balances, everyone has a role, and no one is entirely innocent.

The series will consist of four books: Papaz Kaçtı, Yarım Konken, Esperanza and Siyah İlaç (The Black Medicine).

Note: Translating book titles (except 4th) is difficult because they are based on the names of card games, and these names vary from country to country.

Where can you read Avarya Oyunları?

I started writing this series set in an alternate history where the Avar Khaganate is re-founded as a modern republic years after its fall in 2019. Right now, on August 23, 2026, the 15th chapter of the second book (Yarım Konken) is finished, and I have moved on to the 16th. However, I am keeping this part to myself for now.

On the internet, I have published chapter 30 of the first book (Papaz Kaçtı). Chapter 31 will come out on August 27th, and it will continue like this.

Since the chapters are ready, I post them simultaneously every Thursday on Reddit, Inkspired, Wattpad and 1000Kitap Stories. I hope to keep going at this pace without slowing down until the end of the fourth book, and hopefully get some readers along the way. Currently, chapters are only available in Turkish.

My goal is to publish the series as printed books. If that happens, I will remove the chapters from the web. Therefore, if you intend to read it, it would be best not to postpone it too long. Because as soon as I finish sharing all chapters of the first book, I will speak with my publishing house, Kaktüs Sanat.

Papaz Kaçtı

Synopsis: The year is 2005… Something strange is happening in Avarya’s political life. Bahri Alkan, the leader of the Kızıl Elma Party, hands over his seat to 22-year-old Yaz Larende. On the other hand, Emre Konar, a covert agent of AVİS—the Avarya Intelligence Agency—is searching for Hande Bulut, about whom almost nothing is known. What will she do on election night? How will she trace her route on the map using card suits? What does Hande Bulut want to convey, and what on earth is happening in Avarya?

Avarya was an orderly country, at least for the last fifteen years. Satisfactory growth figures were announced every year. Achievements were attained in various fields of art, sports, and science. Crime rates were falling. Freedoms were expanding. This small Balkan country, which until the nineties had been closed off to the outside world and where dissidents fell victim to an uncertain fate, had become the pearl of Europe in a relatively short time.

There were three major parties, and they came to power with almost identical vote shares in the parliamentary elections held every five years. Before the results were announced on election night, no one ever seemed genuinely curious. They were experienced politicians who, despite their ideological differences, could cooperate for the good of their country.

Yet this picture-perfect image was nothing more than sand sprinkled over a live mine. Covering up the conflict did not turn it into tranquility. The public was unaware of the effort continuing deep below and had no voice whatsoever in the governance. Anyone without money or connections had no influence either. This was as clear as a law of physics.

Magnificent thrones were hidden behind curtains. Ordinary people only ever knew what was presented to them. They mistook the thought patterns they memorized through colorful news fed by the media for their own. Former slaves stamped a piece of paper to choose among a few masters and called it freedom.
